Based in Cashiers, North Carolina, our agency is a division of the Correll Insurance Group and one of the largest independent insurance agencies in the Carolinas. Cashiers Insurance Agency was founded in 1973 by Harry C. Babb. Prior to that, Harry worked many years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and received multiple “Million Dollar Roundtable” awards.
After moving to Cashiers, N.C. in 1969, Harry worked with North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Co. and later was named the branch manager of Wachovia Bank in Cashiers. He then established Cashiers Insurance Agency after seeing a need in the community for his services.
As the agency grew, so did the number of employees, with his son, Michael, coming on board in 1977, his daughter Deborah in 1979, and daughter Carla in 1981.
Harry was also the founder and first president of the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce, and he served community projects such as fundraising for the new Highlands-Cashiers Hospital, Cashiers Day Care, and numerous other projects over the years.
Harry retired and sold the agency to his children in 2002. In February 2006, Harry passed away, and he is dearly missed by his family and community members. His integrity, honesty and faith are continued on by his children and the agency.
